Question by Mommiedearest: Pilot light on Gas stove?
I have a gas stove with a pilot light and using propane gas from a tank. Is there any way to put the pilot light out of commission as I heard from a friend that her gas bill was cut in half when she got a stove without the light. We cannot afford to buy a new stove and were wondering if there was anyway we can fix it so we would rely on matches rather than having to pay for the ever increasing price of the propane.

Sure… you can put an inline shut off valve so you can turn off the gas when the stove is not in use. But you will have to pay to have this done as it should be done by a professional.
It is still cheaper than buying a new stove and will save you gas in the long run.
